The Iraq solution

The Rolling Stone is running with Gov. Brian Schweitzer's plan for Iraq.

Schweitzer's comments are based on a faulty framework - they presume that the Administration is telling the truth when it says that we invaded because of WMD's, that the overthrow of Saddam was a priority, that building a democracy is a true objective. What if something a little more basic was the case - that we invaded to sieze control of resources and inject a powerful military presence in the area so as to eventaully attack Syria and Iran and hold the Saudis in line. Then his comments come off for what they really are - terribly naive.

His idea about Iraq taking over security duties makes me think he wasn't alive for Vietnamization. Is he that young?

By the way, Rolling Stone, $12.95 for 26 issues, full of the current culture and enough of the historic music scene for us oldies, along with politics and top shelf movie reviews - one of the best mags around.

Actually, Schweitzer's solution sounds a WHOLE LOT more plausible than anything I've heard from ANY of the Bushistas! And here's the kicker. Unlike bush, cheney, condoleeza, and rummy, Schweitzer ACTUALLY LIVED AND WORKED IN THE MIDDLE EAST FOR EIGHT YEARS! Wow! Increbible! And he actually speaks some Arabic! Schweitzer's position is anything but "naive". It's pragmatic, and one that allows the natural evolution of Iraq from this point forward without threatening the region. What could be hoped for beyond this now that that idiot son of a bush has worked his magic on the country? I mean, bush is batting .1000 in life. Everything he has ever touched has turned into a monumental disaster! Whereas everything Schweitzer has touched has turned into success! Who would YOU want to lead us out this quagmire? The moron from texas or Schweitzer? Easy answer.

Why does the Governor need to go to Iraq?

Anonymous said...

You SERIOUSLY don't know?? Sheesh! Here, let me help you out on this. BECAUSE THE GOVERNOR IS THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF OUR NATIONAL GUARD! And in case you missed it, the man child moron from texas is destroying them in the meatgrinder in Iraq of his OWN making! They should have NEVER been sent to Iraq! (not my sentiments, well not mine alone. my neighbor, a thirty year full-time Guard man HATES bush for doing this. he tells me daily that this is NOT what the Guard is supposed to do!) And tell me, why SHOULDN'T the commander in chief of our MONTANA Guard be allowed to visit HIS troops if guys like ted nugent and tubby keith get to go? THAT is the question! Hey, a kid joining the Guard doesn't EXPECT to be spendin' years in Iraq! It's simply pure CRAP! If Schweitzer has the narlies to go, he should be allowed to go!

Of COURSE Saddam should have stayed in power! He was our boy! Always had been! CIA creation and team player! Hell, HE FOUGHT A WAR FOR US! Rummy shook his hand! And a good friend. That is until daddy bush set him up. Remember April Glaspie, ambassador to Iraq who gave the go ahead for Saddam to invade Kuwait? Well, she has STILL never been allowed to make a public statement! But the transcripts of her meeting with Saddam are out there for all to read, and read them people do! Saddam was set up by daddy bush. Daddy bush destroyed Iraq's infrastructure. Then twelve years of sanctions MURDERED bout half a million Iraqi kids! (no electriciy, no clean water, no sewage treatment, and no medicine equals an etremely efficacious means of genocide!) Then junior comes along and figures that Eyerak is ripe for the picking. Unfortunately, as with EVERYTHING else he has done in his pathetic existence, he botched it! So, yeah, all in all, I'm with the Iraqi people on this one. They want bush out, and so do I! We as a people should NOT have allowed ourselves to be taken to the cleaners (let alone Iraq) by a certifiable MORON! That's all I have to say about that!

Quit spewing this obnoxious garbage you idiot. Saddam had PLENTY of money to provide these things, and if he REALLY wanted these THINGS, and he REALLY had no MONEY, WE WOULD HAVE PROVIDED THEM!! (Notice how I carefully capitalized words to show how really, really smart I am, just like old what's his name.

Anonymous said...

No you'r NOT very smart, richhead. Do you even UNDERSTAND what sanctions are? I'm afraid not. Iraq was NOT allowed to even PURCHASE the parts necessary to rebuild infrastructure! What a sad fool you are. You have made an unsubstantiated argument.

Anonymous said...

You tool. Don't you hear the moonbats howling that the sanctions WERE WORKING as one of the reasons not to conquer Iraq! Which is it? And now you're saying they weren't working? Geesh, will you people get your moronic stories straight?

Anonymous said...

I'll thank you Richhead to post the quote where I said that the sanctions were working. I agreed with the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD! The sanctions were a barbaric form of modern genocide! But since you made that assumption, I assume that you agree with Madelene Albright when she was asked if the deaths of half a million Iraqi children was worth it. And she replied somehting to the effect that it was simply collateral damage. Saddam was NO threat to anyone, EVEN his neighbors did not fear him! So, tell me, why was the idiot from texas so afraid? I thought he was a tough cowboy!!???

Anonymous said...

Oh, marky, then please explain for us just WHAT neighboring country was in favor of invasion!! Can ya do it??

Anonymous said...

Israel?? teehee! Now come ON, marky. Let's see some PROOF that those countrie SUPPORTED the idiot's "war"! Don't just make stuff up! And hey, WHY AREN'T YOU THERE???? Guess you're just too valuable at home! Somebody has to protect the women and children from the big, bad terrists! ha,aha,ha,a! Sorry for laughing.

Hey Kralj why don't you tell us all about how brave you were in Vietnam, where the closest danger you ever came across was walking down Tu Do street in Saigon. Where did you spend your time there anyway? The Rex? The Caravelle? The Continental Palace? The roof of the Majestic? Come on hero, tell us all about it!

Mark - more on the mass grave uncovered in Iraq - in 1991, President Bush the first encouraged the Shiites and Kurds to rise up in rebellion to overthrow Hussein and the Ba'athists. They complied, and asked Bush for permission to used captured weaponry. That is all they asked for - they did not ask the US to step into the conflict. Instead, the US pulled the rug and gave Saddam permission to use his helicopter gun ships in the no-fly zones to put down the rebellion. It was a classic case of bait and switch - the US got the Shiites to expose themselves, and then ordered their deaths.

Just thought you would like to know this - if the bodies uncovered are from the 1991 massacres, then the US has blood on its hands along with Saddam.

The US attack in 1991 was savage - they destroyed water and sewage systems and electrical grids, and the sanctions that followed prohibited importation of chlorine for water purification or any repair parts. The resulting deaths due toe starvation and diseasae, including a million children, are again a US culpability.

While I may love the US, I find the actions of its government often despicable and intolerable.

Saddam had the ability for the sanctions to be lifted almost immediatelly, yet he failed to follow through on what was required for this to happen.
Those people that died because of the sanctions are HIS responsibility.
Why all this blaim America crud?

I never said you were a moonbat, but apparently that's how you think of yourself!

"blaim"? "blaim"?? Richhead, I don't argue with MORONS! I can see why bush and burns are your heroes. They're your intellectual equivalents!

Anonymous said...

Keep on going Larry! Having you out there will help the conservative cause.

Anonymous said...

"blaim"? "blaim"??
You're right, I misspelled blame. Whereas, you misplaced it.

Idiot said: I don't argue with MORONS!
As far as I can tell, you don't argue with anybody, you just rant and rave and blow spittle all over the place.

p.s. either call me Dickhead or Rich, Richhead is soooooooo aggrevating.

Idiot said: I can see why bush and burns are your heroes.
Actually, my current hero is The Great One, Mark Levin , but thanks for playing.

Anonymous said...

I believe it's "aggravating", Richhead!

Anonymous said...

Richhead, please explain your illiteracy, otherwise I'll chock you up to beings simply a perfect example of a rightwing MORON!

Much better, at least you didn't spray me with spittle, at least not as much as your norm.

Link Hey idiot, maybe Mr. Clark can use some of your thinking to help spring his client.

A moron is a terrible thing to waste! Come ON, Richhead. Where DID you learn to spell? The Corhole Burns series called Hooked On Moronics?????? Just wondering.

Schweitzer said: Isn't the problem that we're concerned that if Iraq breaks into a civil war and someone seizes power there and now has the oil revenue to create a military that can threaten their neighbors and the rest of the world ... that's ultimately the problem, isn't it?

How is it that Schweitzer believes that someone could use the oil revenue to create a military that can threaten their neighbors and the rest of the world, that idiots think that Saddam was never a threat?

Anonymous said...

WELL, richhead, you seem to suggest that prewar equals postwar! As the lt. asked of gump, ARE YOU AN IDIOT OR SUMTHIN???

Anonymous said...

Schweitzer said:Schweitzer expressed his frustration with the rest of the Democratic party: "I'm just the governor of Montana for god's sake. But I haven't even heard that level of sophistication in Iraq proposals, have you?"

With this I agree with Schweitzer, the level of sophistication coming from the Democrat party is ridiculous. But, that seems to be in almost every area, not just in how we are waging war in Iraq. ALL of the timetables for Iraq have been met by the current planners. I suggest the current plan is working. The left has placed itself in a position that good news from Iraq is bad news for them. How sad.

Things are going well in Iraq, at least, as well as can be expected. Don't take my word for it, here's a guy THAT LIVES THERE, take a gander at what he says.

Anonymous said...

Anecdotal. The vast weight of evidence, including what I read from reporters on the ground over there, seems to indicate that things are not going well, that in fact, things are going very badly.

I noticed you didn't leave any comments at that site, if you're so confident that everything is failing so badly, tell him, not me. I believe him, not you.

Hey, Richhead, if you "believe" so damn much, WHY AIN'T YOU THERE, HERO??!! Some guys put their money where their mouths are, and others put their mouths where their arses are safe! That'd be our little Richhead!

Anonymous said...

Kralj is so tough that he sharpens his teeth by hand because he thinks pain is fun. (NOT)

Talking about keeping your arse safe, in Vietnam Kralj thought the bad bush was between old mama-sans legs!

Still waiting for you to tell us about it hero!

So you think those people are boobs? The words they are spewing and the arguments they are offering are exactly the same as yours. They certainly aren't on my side of the political fence.

Bizarre? Yes, of course. Bizarre for Berkely? No. Unfortunatelly the moonbat left been has offering more and more of these ungodly demonstrations. Protests like these are happening on the left coast at a disturbingly pace.
"Zombie" apparently is able to go to these events and blend in. He or she apparently has gained the confidence of the moonbats and they tend to feel confident exposing even their most radical images to him or her.
Zombie's home page, , is a treasure trove of such images.
