Garver-Tussing again

Just for the record: If someone at the mayoral forum I moderated had asked, "Do you think it's ethical for candidates to encourage their supporters to make donations that violate campaign laws?," I would have thought that was a dumb question, too.

Gives us a bit of insight to the guy. If he's going to violate the intent of his severence contract, why no violate the law too? Seems to me his ego is so incredibly huge that he thinks he is above the law.

Here's another question: If Mr. Garver has lived in Billings for 9 years as he claims, how can that be since he said at the Rotary forum earlier this week that he "used to be a member of Rotary" when he was with the Metra Park Foundation (1996) but had to quit when he moved to Missoula. If he was worked for the Metra Park Foundation since 1996 and then moved to Missoula, he couldn't have lived in Billings those nine years as he claims. There are a lot of things about Al Garver not adding up.

Another question, dumb though it may be: I'd like to hear more about and see some proof of his work for General Dynamics. I find it somewhat incredible that a multi national, U. S. defense contractor would turn to a guy living on Tam O'Shanter Rd in Billings, Montana for "marketing and political advice." What are you working on right now for General Dynamics, Mr. Garver?

Hey David,

Just wanted to let you know I'm not advertising in the Gazette either. I don't discriminate against the small independents just because they disagree with me. I can, however, chose to not subsidize those who do, ever cognizant of the fact that they don't really care and it just makes me feel like I have some microscopic financial clout. I screwed up by trying to be funny and not anticipating the widespread distribution of the screw up. I really didn't know that you were supposed to check everybody's ID at the door and then compare them to the list of donors, give them a sign to wear with the amount they could legally contribute so they could be constantly monitored to make sure they didn't put too much in the pot. So we just didn't pass the hat and made everybody write checks. We chose not to make a federal case out of Garver filing the wrong finance report, filing his C5 in the wrong place and putting false information on his mailout. We took his word that the money he paid his business was really for stamps and material instead of design and production. But hey, I guess some people are just more tolerant and realize people make mistakes.

Ron, It would be a state case not a federal case. Thought you were in law enforcement and would know such a thing.

How would being in law enforcement translate to being knowledgeable about campaign law? I dont think that it is taught at the Law Enforcement Academy...

David, I think it was Eric Frank Russell who wrote "May you live in interesting times."

It's certainly interesting, isn't it?

Is Ed's City Lights blog a part of The Gazette?

I think "federal case" is a euphemism for a "big f*#@ing deal" but anal retentive people probably wouldn't get it, would they? Or is "anal retentive" a literal term, too? If so, I'd suggest Metamucil for that condition. It DOES explain the expression in those jumbo size pictures I see around town.

I am the anonymous DS that posted the federal - state comment and I was actually trying to inject a little humor into the mix. Sorry for apparently offending some of the Tussing supporters. I just wish Ron was still Police Chief so that when I get pulled over for going 50 in a 35, I could just say "But officer, everyone is speeding so it is ok for me to do it."

Beware the politician whose picture size exceeds the size of the letters in his name.

M Fox- Thank you for seeing my post. The specific question is...Is Ed's blog considered a part of The Gazette? Hard copy and online versions are one in the same? I dunno'.[?]. Looks like it may be one in the same.

When the ad banner was put on Ed's City Light's, Ed claimed he had nothing to do with it. It was the powers that be on the money making side of the building. I assume that means the Billings Gazette and I imagine the check written for the ad was written to the Billings Gazette. So while technically he can say he is not advertising in the Billings Gazette paper, he did purchase an ad from the Billings Gazette. I suppose David didn't ask for an ad for his online version.

Thanks anonymous for the response. I am wondering if Tussing is walking a fine line again.[?]. I believe both Ed and David, in no respective order because they just do a great job, do their best to divulge and comment appropriately. I am understanding your response to mean that Tussing did in fact write a check to The Gazette for advertising? That would perhaps be the bottom line?

Dear M. Fox - Split hairs? This is why I do not usually do not visit bloggs. [Sorry David & Ed, you guys do a fab job.]

Voting For Al.

P.S. I understand dead trees uh-k?

uh, 2:34? It's blogs, not bloggs. It's okay, though, k?

Al Garver's radio ad describes him as a 22 year VETERAN? Now, that exceeds the bullshitometer.

And now for something completely different.

In the defense of the three accused Billings police officers, perhaps they were on to something. Perhaps they were looking for hard evidence.

I've sold ads for the Outpost for a long time. Politicians who don't advertise there, generally don't win.

Are those BIG "Tussing for Mayor" signs in violation of code #13-35-225?

Anonymous said...

Did you hear the one about the cop who filed a sex discrimination complaint and then was suspended for possibly stealing erectile dysfunction drugs?

She couldn't get a lift.

Ba dum dum.

"splitting hairs" is an age old cliche. Cliches aren't always grammatically correct. Word?

Would someone please give Bush a blowjob.......SO WE CAN IMPEACH HIM!

I saw that M Fox, and it sure is disturbing to note that Al has no control over himself. I wonder if he really thought no one would notice he jumped over 200% in the wee hours of the morning. Did he set his alarm for 4 am so he could get up and rig the poll? Thats pretty desperate I'd say.

How bout some PROOF, merryscam?! You seem to be looooooong on accusuation, but kinda short on proof!................along with brains.

Do the math ladies. It takes about 30 seconds to vote, clear cookies, and vote again even with DSL. Try it. I did. (one vote for each of the candidates so don't accuse me of tampering). At that rate, more than two people would have to do that steady for all three hours. Plausible, yes. Likely, I don't know. Maybe the Gazette had problems on their end. I'm amazed that anyone cares enough about an on-line poll to be watching the numbers at 4:30 AM.

Anonymous said...

I see by the astronomically increasing poll numbers on the Billings Gazette site that both parties are playing the same game. Although I am sure the Tussing people will be blaming someone else for it.

Looks like there are people out there on both sides that need to get a job or a real hobby. Playing games with an on-line poll. What an incredible waste of time. Play with your children, walk the dog, clean the house, go hunting, anything would be more productive than junior high games. How many more hours until this is over? TOO MANY!

Exactlly how many hours has it been raining for? I lost track.
