Gazette campaign spending

Here's my little scoop, by the way.

At least I think it's a scoop. I've paid so little attention to local news lately that I might have missed it somewhere else.

This is a good story and a scoop -- and it would probably be a scoop for a long time cause the Gazette was never going to report it -- and probably Lee Enterprises anywhere wasn't going to report it -- we know they couldn't have overlooked it, now don't we. Knowing a little bit about this story, however, the question becomes how will you handle the next stage of the story -- you know the part where -- if they conclude the ads were paid for by the parntership -- MSU-Billings is pulled onto the carpet for using public funds for political campaigning -- how understanding will MSU-Billings be?

"Celebrate Billings" and the "Billings Gazette" must be one in the same if Mr. Patrick felt compelled to NOT write a check to themselves, and secondly states the Gazette "handled the accounting." How does that work? It doesn't unless you're in the laundry business. His perspective makes little sense, but speaks further to the need for inquiry of nonprofits, everywhere they are. Thanks for the light on this issue, much needed.

I agree it is both a scoop and a story. This is where the Gazette should apply to itself some of the principles of open, honest government that it preaches on its editorial page and come clean.

Slick. I wonder what expense account MSU, St V and BC posted their 75k buy-in to. Since it looks like they paid their 75k to the BG, I'll bet they called it Advertising.
