Readers' choice

Reasonable people can disagree, and so can unreasonable ones. So I would never find fault with the Gazette's Readers' Choice awards. After all, we were told that the response was "wonderful," which must mean that at least somebody responded.

But in all seriousness: Applebee's for Best All-Around Restaurant? Wendy's for Best Hamburger? Let's set aside the possibility that either of these establishments could have won a plurality of votes in these categories. Does even one person seriously think that Applebee's is the best restaurant in Billings? Or what it would say about the state of Billings cuisine if it were?

And I can't imagine that even Wendy's thinks it makes the best hamburgers in town. Heck, Applebee's makes better hamburgers.

Come on, Applebee's and Wendy's fans. If you are out there, make your case.

Ever had the burger at Walker's Grill? Yummy! They have my vote for best restaurant in Billings.

Pug Mahon's has the best burger. Applebee's is one of the most disgusting pre-fab food joints in town. Even their chicken wings are bloody. Ewwwww!

Pug's has the best pork chop sandwich hands down. I can't comment on their burgers because I've never ordered anything but the pork chop sandwich! So Walker's is still on top with its burger. As for Applebee's, I have been carrying their gift certificate in my wallet for over a year and still haven't used it. Even the idea of free food hasn't gotten me through the door. Oh, but maybe I have one less Christmas present to buy........

As an old fat guy I'll vote for Pug Mahons too. Plus, the homemade potato chips go down well with beer.

Caramel Cookie Waffle for lunch. The best homemade meal at the best price--don't forget dessert!

Main Street Deli is fantastic.

Pickle Barrel has great sandwiches but their soups are canned and horrible.

Well, bring a big appetite when you go to the Giggling Grizzly and order a Mushroom Swiss burger. All of their food is good as is that at Montana Jack's in the Heights. Their service is top notch too. Try their Eggs Benedict for breakfast.

We tried them once, Pete, but no one would wait on us. After 15-20 minutes we left and never went back.

Was the questionair circulated anywhere other than the Gazette building? I missed it if it was.
Pug's has my vote on most of the food stuff, and a super Sunday breakfast. Walker's is too noisy, and I've never had a buger there.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried a Main Street Deli sandwich at Paula's Edibles downtown today. With a cup of soup, it was a great lunch, and always friendly service.
