Your free and independent press

Some people think that blogging technology provides all the alternative to mainstream media that readers need. But take a look at how the Missoulian attempts to block out competition and you realize just how badly needed alternative publications (ahem, like this one) are still needed.

Dave, one little problem with your piece above. It would be a whole lot more believable if you STILL have Pat Dawson's piece, Montana Unplugged! It seems to some of us as just a leetle disingenous to hold the Perfessor up as some sort of expert, when a real expert like Dawson has been banned! I guess that THAT is what we expect from an alternative press. Guys with the guts to take on MPC and the like, not moralizing whiners like Natelson who take cheap shots and teachers! Every target that Robby attacks is a soft target! They lend themselves to cheap shots!

Just wanted to let you know that your doing a good job. Dawson had great stuff and nobody has to read RN's stuff if they don't want too.
Seigner and Clawson are great.
Small paper blog "VS" like to be big paper blog "City Lights" has no link to your blog site. What a concidence, huh.

Anonymous1: The only reason I don't run Montana Unplugged anymore is because Dawson doesn't write it anymore. If he wrote it, I would print it.

Anonymous2: Thanks. In fairness to Ed, I have no doubt he would link to this blog if it was up to him. The fact that he can't is one reason I don't work there anymore (although in fairness to the Gazette, I am on their master blog list on the website).

Pat Dawson would probably continue to furnish much-needed information and commentary had he not wearied of censorship by the editor.

In any case, very few people are awake enough to grasp his points; Montanans revel in their ignorance.
