Swine flu

I find this to be extraordinarily easy advice to follow. I suppose I should worry about public health emergencies more than I do, but I don't, and I probably won't.

When pigs fly, that's when you can come here and read, "Swine flu."

I like the suggestion to wash our hands. That seems aggressive enough to me.

I think we tend to panic over these health issues, too, David. But I also remember my grandmother's description of the flu epidemics of 1917-1919; two of her younger siblings died. Millions of people died worldwide. That's nothing to sneeze at.

I heard something that expands on your post:

People used to say we'd have a black president when pigs fly. One hundred days into Obama's presidency, swine flu.

Oh my God - best I've heard in months.

Gee, I thought swine flu was a disease that came from members of Congress and state legislatures. And, no, you can't get this ailment from pork (the edible kind, not the money Max brings from D.C.), so enjoy your chops, ham and BLTs!!!

BTW, to show you what a healthy dose of paranoia can do, a kid in Phoenix got this bug, stayed home and got well, and when he went back to school, they shut the school down for a week. (Of course, not much was made of this until some kids in the center of the known universe -- a/k/a New York City -- got sick.)
