Montana's share

Gov. Brian Schweitzer has posted details of plans for spending Montana's $800 million share of the federal government's stimulus package. The bill to make it happen is being carried by Rep. Jon Sesso, D-Butte.

Bottom line, according to the gov: 11,000 new jobs in Montana and tax savings for 97 percent of Montanans. Happy days.

Didn't say I believed it. I said that's what he said.

As a reporter, maybe you ought to put down the pom-poms and consider asking a tough question, like how did you come up with 11,000 jobs? I only say that because one of your colleagues did this and found something very interesting.

How reporting what somebody said amounts to waving "pom-poms" [sic] escapes me. I would love to spend a few hours tracking down these claims, but I have no time to do it.
